BlackBeard’s Secrets to Pirate Training Step 1

Training to Be a Pirate – Step 1

Spd, Str, Def RubySo as a new player, it is important to focus on boosting your Strength, Defense, and Speed in your beginning training, though not in that exact order, explained below.  I say this because until you can save some gold and buy a ship that has any attacking capabilities, it is to your best advantage to start focused on simple hand to hand combat with other players or NPC’s.  Since all three stat’s go hand-in-hand, it is best to train those first.  Keep that in mind it is recommended that your Speed and Defense stats should remain higher than your Strength, but not too much higher.  My general rule of thumb is to keep Speed at the highest of the 3 stats, followed closely with your Defense, and finishing with your Strength.  When creating a new character, the Energy Level you start with is insufficient to exhaust the entire energy into on category, so in the beginning, try breaking the total energy level into three numbers.  For Strength, Defense, and Speed, I would recommend training the following amounts respectively:

  • Str: 3
  • Def: 3
  • Spd: 4

Turning The Tables Competition Overview

Ahoy ye Pirates and Pirate-esses!  The time for our monthly Major Competition is upon us, and the “Turning the Tables” Competition will be epic!  Continuing our story, Taru’el and Ash’erah have run to an elite, high-stakes casino in the Antarctic from all of us pirates; hoping to shroud themselves in the safety of the icy frost desert. Show these sneaky, cowering scoundrels that no matter where they go, no matter where they hide in the world, they will never be safe from you and the rest of the pirates ruling the seas!  Competing pirates will receive points for committing dastardly crimes, serving hard time in prison, and most importantly breaking each other out of those impenetrable prisons.  Do not let these scalawags escape your grip this time; we have the cornered at the end of the Earth and they will be in our grasps soon!

The stakes may sound high, but with high stakes comes great reward!  Rewards like our new Platinum Treasure Chest CCrystalline Cloaks, Crystal Cascade Dresses, Reefing Booms, Henna’s Mystery Chests, and gold a plenty will be adorned to the Overall Competition Winners, as well as, Leaderboard Winners; with equally astounding Participation Prizes too!  If you are interested in seeing just what prizes you can win, click the link below, and scroll down the page the area with a blue background titled “Turning the Tables,” and check out the vast rewards and prizes that you can win.

So tighten your boot straps, sharpen you weapons, and ready your ship for the journey to Antarctica.  It will be a cold and arduous journey, but we must take advantage of having Taru’el and Ash’erah cornered, and take them for everything they have!  See you on the seas you ruthless blood thirsty pirates!

BlackBeard’s Secrets to Pirate Training Step 2

Training to Be a Pirate – Step 2

Energy Potion

Energy Potions… Someone should make a Monster version!

As you are training you will discover that your energy and awake levels deplete quickly.  One easy fix is to “Vote for Rewards” each day and receive the bonus Energy and Nerve Potions.  Also, if you get your respected status for each vote you will receive 3 of each potion as opposed to the one you would normally get as an unrespected pirate.  To learn more about Respect status click here, and discover the benefits received in that post, but suffice it to say that the sooner you get your respected status the better.  The other potions you will need to boost train are awake potions.  There are several different types of Awake Potions that fill your Awake meter to different degrees, but the main potions are Focused Awake Potions (which are not transferable), Awake Potions, and Half Awake Potions.  These potions can be acquired through completing Quests, opening Treasure Chests, joining Gangs that actively compete in in-game Competitions, purchasing potions through the Grand Spice Trading Store (the first of which is in Port Royal), playing in Competitions that offer Awakes as reward, and finding/asking other kind higher leveled players for donations.

Move Yer House Ye Dogs!

WRONG!  Move To A NEW House Ye Dogs!

Once you have accumulated Energy Potions and Awake Potions, you can begin to Boost Train.  Boost Training is where you train your full amount of energy in one particular stat, and then click the image of the Energy Potion to refill your energy.  As you train at a lower level, it will take longer to deplete your Awake bar (located in the top right portion of the screen, but once that is depleted entirely; simply click the image next to the particular Awake Potion you want to use and continue boosting.  Keep in mind, however, that the lower your Awake status drops the less you will increase the training stat you are focusing on.  In the beginning of your training, I recommend training 5 times in your Speed stat, 4 times in your Defense stat, and 3 times in your Strength stat (sometime 4 times in Strength if you have enough Awake to accomplish this).  If you want to increase your Awake levels, simply save your gold and move to a new house under the “Move House” link in the “Things to Do” Category on the left hand column.

Turning the Tables

Crystal Cascade Dress worn by Ash’erah

After a short time at the tables and slots, where he learned very little, the Pope calls it a day and decides it’s time for lunch. As he heads toward the dining room, he sees servants in pale blue dashing to and from the gym. He peaks inside, and notices several pirates training. One of them is Bubbles, and he has servants standing nearby while he runs in place holding hand weights. Bubbles says to one of them, “Tell the guy I have at the poker game to bluff for everything he’s worth. But if he falls below 500 chips, or over 10,000, call it a game. And you, take that money you won for me and put it into that slot machine in the far corner that’s been empty all day. I’m sure it has a payout waiting.”

The Pope raises an eyebrow. “Dealing with the devil’s fire whilst fortifying thy flesh? How enterprising of thee.”

Bubbles says, “Yeah, well, me mum always said I could do whatever I set my mind to! So, today, that’s everything!”

The Pope smiles. “I prepare to consume a few morsels. Shall I carry thee something hither? A sandwich, perhaps?”

Bubbles shakes his head. “Nah. I think me power bars’ll carry me through the day!”

The Pope continues on his way to the dining hall, joining lightchest’s table. Lightchest says, “The customers here are all high-rollers and power brokers. This place seems to be their secret playground.”

Mayhem says, “Yar! An’ the feller ‘at owns the place don’t seem too willin’ to nark on none of ‘em.”

J-Roc adds, “Yeah, man, that what I be gettin’, too! These fooz are goin’ down!”

“One moment!” snarls Red Beard. “Before we charge into action, we ought to consider the ramifications.”

“Rami-what?” asks DaSaNDMaN. “I ain’t doin’ that to no ram!”

Cpt Henna clarifies, “No, not ram-fornication, you bilge-brain! He means the consequences.”

DaSaNDMaN says, “There be a whole ship full o’ whoop-ass consequences fer anyone tries an’ mate me with a ram!”

Taru’el’s Crystalline Cloak

Slick rolls his eyes, and says, “Anyway…I talked with one of the men in the gym earlier who appeared to be a fighter. He wouldn’t admit it, but I figured he was a mercenary. So I slipped up to the next floor earlier, past some guards. There’s an entire floor set up for trained warriors. Probably some of them are gambling…or pretending to be.”

Groany suggests, “Well, then, how ‘bout if we don’t start bustin’ heads just yet. Let’s cause a little trouble and see what happens.”

Bluntz says, “Dude! That sounds pretty sweet. One o’ you cause a disturbance, and I’ll sneak up to the private rooms. Start raidin’ ‘em!”

Shy Glizzly gets an impish smile. He says, “I come with. Maybe we get lucky and find a woman bathing, eh?”

Bubbles enters, sweating profusely, and says, “That how you get all yer babes? Takin’ ‘em by surprise?”

Shy Glizzly’s face darkens and he stands up. “Least I not BE a woman!” he shouts.

Lightchest says, “Whoa. Why don’t we take our energy out there. I think we’re all agreed that it’s time to cause a little trouble.”

“Indeed,” agrees Red Beard. “Once we have their fighting force running to-and-fro, we will be able to search every nook and cranny without so much direct confrontation. The first one to locate the unhappy couple, send word to the rest and don’t let them leave. It’s time we have words with these ice-wielders…on our terms.”

Bluntz says, “Someone should totally keep watch on the entrance…make sure the duo doesn’t escape while we’re having fun causin’ a ruckus and tryin’ to find ‘em.”

Slick and J-Roc step forward. Slick says, “Got it covered. Ain’t no one getting’ past us!”

“Yeah, man!” says J-Roc. “We got this.”

--Clothing of Taru'el and Ash'erah has the ability to Freeze

Clothing of Taru’el and Ash’erah has the ability to Freeze weapons (10% Block)

“I dunno guys…” says Bubbles. “I’ve made a lot of money off of the people at this casino. Even won myself a nice painting. Not sure I wanna go pissin’ ‘em off now.”

Mayhem replies, “What, because…something’s not right? Is something…fuzzy?”

Bubbles retorts, “Shut up an’ eat yer damn meatball sandwich!”

  • Solemus... Please Stop Drinking!

    Solemus… Please Stop Drinking!

I can’t say much about big events after Turkey Day, but get ready to prison break.  Practice Thursday by breaking up wish bones. Also I hear that Solemus has already broken into our super secret kegs a week early this year I hope he doesn’t accidentally put everything on sale again.

  • Player Creation Tools will be planned and begin development, this is where players will be able to create their own quests and balanced items for other players to use.
  • Creating and implementing a New Player Experience that helps new players learn the game mechanics and give them enough knowledge and gold to be able to compete with other pirates, as well as discussing a Master/Minion program setup where experienced pirate will be able to teach new pirates how to play.
  • We will be moving to a new system to Vote for Favor.  This should help with the problems our current system seems to give some players & allow players to more easily obtain free favor.

Let us know how excited you are, or if there is something else you have wanted to see happen with the game that might be coming out in December.

BlackBeard’s Secrets to Pirate Training Intro

BlackBeard’s Secrets to Pirate Training

scary pirate

Trying to Get Blackbeard’s Secrets?

Let’s be Frank for a moment, training can be difficult and confusing.  Do not fret, there is help to this conundrum!  Training can be broken down into a few basic steps.  Following these steps will not ensure you the perfectly trained Character, but I can promise that they will help.  The following steps will help you to become the Pirate you always dreamed of being; whether you want to follow the pure route and defend other helpless Pirates, or become the most ruthless, blood-thirsty Killing Machine.  So hold on to your boot straps and follow these simple steps to Training.

When training your character, there are four key attributes to focus on: Strength, Defense, Speed, and Seamanship.  Each attribute goes hand-in-hand with the other in terms of developing your character.

For example: Strength affects your character’s ability to attack other players, but if you only have a high strength statistic without an equal or higher Defense statistic; then you can attack all you want but when the other character attacks back you won’t be able to defend yourself.

The most important attribute to focus on at first is Speed, which determines which player strikes first.  If you have a speed that is higher than the character you wish to attack, then you attack first.  Sometimes with a high enough Strength stat, coupled with a high Speed (that is higher than who you are attacking), you may be able to attack first and defeat the other character in the first round of attacks before they can retaliate.

Inversely, if you have a higher Strength stat. coupled with a higher Defense statistic, then when you enter a battle they can attack first but you will be able to defend yourself and follow with a potentially defeating blow.

Dissenting Opinion by CarsRFun:

Heres the secret guys.. all you need to train is Speed and Seamanship.. do that and you will be beast!!!

Company Update 11/13/2015

Apologies First

I'm SorrySo rumor has it that I have missed two updates, I could give excuses or…. I could just give some good news and hope that it makes up for your missed experience last week.  Also I want to thank all of our long time players for their patience as we get these New User guides put up.  This helps new players learn to play the game faster and decide to stick around.  We have released some new player posts: Ways to Earn SpiceThe Shipyard, Respected Pirate Status, & How to Impress Your Gang Leader.

Weekly Comps Launched & Specific Tasks

We finally have weekly comps implemented, and having hit a few rough spots regarding too many cooks in the kitchen, thinking the barnacles of the poop deck was great for you we have changed up a few things in the company to help us all become experts in each area of the company, this is needed especially as we grow… and to prevent myself, Captain Andrek, from giving away the farm again with events.

Captain Vane will be taking care of half of the weekly competitions every month, and will be focused on learning the games rules and becoming familiar with all the items in the game, this will help us be able to keep the balanced even better, which has been a major focus over the past month.  These concerns were taken directly from our players, and we are working hard to make everything great for you 😀

Pirate Ship & Competitions!

Weekly Comps are Here!

Lieutenant Skahz will be focused directly on Support Tickets so that they can be handled in a timely manner and will become the expert at Level 1 support, where 80%+ of the support concerns are resolved.  As well he will be taking care of one competition per month with the Skahz vs Vane side story line.

Captain Volespa has been hard at work creating optional surveys to help us learn more about what our players want and need to make this game an even better playground for you.

Captain Andrek is still keeping the communications team on track and has been researching the most successful and participated in competitions, and why players loved them, as well as getting blog content conforming to the standards that are needed. In all he is still just a boring captain….

Where is Dath’s Name?

Admiral Dath has made it very clear that he doesn’t want his name tied on anything else, his infamy is apparently getting him too big an ego.  So if you will stroke his ego by showing us a picture of your pet’s registration, a holiday decoration, or simply your child’s birth certificate with his name on it, we will give you a ‘Lucky Talkin’ Chest’… which doesn’t have his name on it.

Warlord Darkbane … well he has decided that he will keep our lights on and allow us to keep playing in his seas, in fact he is overseeing all of our efforts and letting us know when we have gone too far… I have already walked the plank twice this week & after he reads this I am certain it will be 4.

Both Dath and Darkbane are whipping some new Jr Devs into shape, and making sure they know what they need to in order to help create a little more order in the chaos that comes with ri

Master Solemus is now able to be more focused on game design and the story.  He actually got the New Chile Quest released this week!

New Quest Release-

Added to the Old Ironbeard Chain: ‘Ware the Water: Sinister mermaids on the Chilean coast have been dragging people beneath the waves! Chief Huapi needs your help to net ‘em and kill ‘em!  Machi Nesa, the local shaman, has found a way for you to recover some of Old Ironbeard’s lost treasure! But you’ll need to gather spear fragments from the deadly Wild Natives and get her to form the Tacuara Spear. With it, you may be able to get into a secret sea cliff cave and unlock an artifact once owned by Black Jack.  This includes a new port: Chile

New Server for Admin’s to Break

A New Server for Breaking! So we have a new server that currently is used to try really new, might really break things badly types of ideas.  Once we think it will work correctly, we will launch these ideas on Arena, then to Main.  This does include the new chat program and user interface we have been working on for.  Soon we will open it up for players to try creating new items and quests on as well!

Don’t tell anyone I told you this… We are testing
Ship Deeds.  Don’t ask me what that is, because I shouldn’t even tell you we are testing it.  Also if you check out our post next week, I will have been able to sneak into Darkbane’s office, get ahold of his plans and leak some of them to you 😀

How to Impress Your Gang Leader

Okay, so what if you’re a complete n00b here?
What if you just started playing, got the basics, and want to join a gang. Getting into a gang would be easy right? Getting in as a new player wouldn’t be the hard part, but what if you have aspirations to be a gnarly pirate captain and move up the ranks in my gang?

Even Popes Need You to Level Up!

Even Popes Need You to Level Up!

First I guess I should explain a little bit about gangs. ‘Gangs’ are groups within the game that band together to help others who hold the same title of the gang. No this isn’t your everyday blood VS crypts battle for the streets but you could look at it that way since many people are ruthless and conniving, or you could simply see it as the Hatfields & McCoys where they are all close knit family that love to feud. But here’s the important question you and so many before you have wondered.
How would I impress my gang leader so they promote me within their ranks? Well if you’re still reading this I’m assuming you wondered that anyways. I guess I’ll take a break from my rum songs to fill you guys in on a bit of useful information on how you can do just that.

Gangs have gang wars/competitions: Help them win wars/competitions and you’re sure to get noticed by your leader. They’ll probably like you just for being active. However, help them beat out their rivals in the gang competitions and they’ll love you.
Integrity: As backwards as this sounds for a pirate game, leaders look for honest players to help them grow their gangs. They want someone who’s willing to take on a new player and help them along their way.
Time: As with anything in this world you have to put in the time to get where you want to be. Proving your loyalty to the gang leader by putting in your time with them is probably the most surefire way to gain their loyalty down the road.
Recruit new members: If you join a gang and quickly establish yourself as someone who’s going to help it grow, you’ll be sitting in the right pocket of your leader’s blazer before you know it.
Help Level the gang up: When you gain XP your gang gains XP. It would be mighty impressive to say you were the one responsible for leveling your gang up X levels.
Voting system: Several gangs have some sort of internal voting system that is setup by the leader. For example after you’ve served your time in the gang you could become a leader within the ranks by being voted as such by 3 or more other members. This isn’t really something you can do to impress your leader but it’s nice to know that some gangs have their own form of democracy.
Communication, Communication, Communication. Do I need to say it again?

Communicate Ye' Dogs!

Communicate Ye’ Dogs!

Communication. It is fundamentally one of the most important things for ANY team doing ANYTHING. The same goes for gangs. Keeping in contact with your leader and other members to see what the gang is doing at any given moment ensures your role within the gang is more than just taking up space.
Ultimately there are a million ways to impress your gang leader depending on who they are but covering these basics should help you along the way. Happy Sailing.

Respected Pirate Status

What is Respected Status?

Well if ye want the best that Rule the Seas have to offer, you need to have a respected status to get it.  It sets you apart from lowly dogs that just piddle in minor crimes, gambling on the weekends and the real rulers of the sea who are committed to questing through all the isles we can throw you into, along with training bonuses that help you level up quickly.

Get the Respect Ye Deserve

I Want Respect!

I Want Respect!

Ye’ new pirates were wondering how to get the respected pirate status eh? Upon logging in after creating your account you were gifted with 5 days of the Respected Pirate status when you created the account. You fiddled around learning the game and your 5 days went by before you blinked. If you were anything like me you spent too much time trying to figure out how to play the game, found the tavern, forgot what you were doing and bam no more respected status.

Who Needs the Blasted Thing

So, now you’re thinking “Eh, who needs respected status anyways?” Yeah I thought the same thing, turns out it’s actually pretty important when doing certain quests. A LOT of quests, HUNDREDS of them to be more specific, require respected status. Having the respected status puts you in a different tier of pirates and rightfully so. Gaining full access to the game (like any game) is not a right, it’s a privilege that you earn by doing certain things within the game. Did you want a list of what the status actually provides? Fine, here it is.

  • 25% Training Boost
  • Travel time between ports reduced by 30 seconds
  • Energy, nerve, and awake regenerate twice as fast
  • Steal 10% more Gold while mugging
  • Access over 200 additional RP only quests
  • 3x the potion rewards for voting!
  • 10% Bonus to ALL experience for yourself and your gang
  • Access an additional profession
  • And finally, a bright and shiny User Name.

So how do you get back the respected status?
